As part of a sweeping array of announcements and improvements set to come to a few of Adobe’s flagship apps, like Photoshop and Lightroom, a favorite app for photographers is about to get a highly-requested new feature.

Fujifilm cameras will now be able to natively tether with Adobe Lightroom Classic. Along with other updates for Lightroom and Lightroom Classic, this new native tethering support will be extended to a range of Fujifilm camera models, following the existing tethering support already offered to Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras.

Let’s take a look at these new updates for these Adobe apps and explore how you can start natively tethering your Fujifilm cameras with Lightroom Classic.

New Features in Lightroom Classic

While we’ll get to the Fujifilm camera tethering support in a bit, let’s first quickly look at some of the new features set to come to Lightroom Classic with this latest update (June 2025 release). The biggest news for many photographers and photo editors is the new AI-powered Distraction Removal tool, which will help users remove distractions such as windows, glass reflections, and even extra people in a photo.

Lightroom Classic will also see some helpful performance improvements, which will enhance editing tasks, facilitate smoother delivery, and provide a faster and more responsive overall experience. These enhancements will be particularly advantageous for demanding operations that previously encountered speed and fluidity issues.

Main Improvements:

  • Crop Rotation Improvements
  • Brush improvements
  • Linear gradient improvements in the Masking panel

These updates should address some minor performance bottlenecks and further enable a more efficient and productive editing workflow, particularly when working with images that require extensive edits and multiple masks.

Fujifilm Camera Tethering in Lightroom Classic

The big news here for Fujifilm shooters is that Lightroom Classic will now support native tethered capture for Fujifilm cameras. Fujifilm camera users have been able to do this with various plugin options, but this will be the most direct and secure approach going forward.

Here are the basic steps to follow to set up tethering with your Fujifilm cameras and Lightroom Classic.

Connect a compatible Fujifilm camera to your computer and open Lightroom Classic.

In your Fujifilm camera settings, select PC remote mode. To find the setting, refer to the manual for your particular camera model. (Note: Ensure that PC Save Image Size is set to Original if RAW images need to be imported.)

Select File > Tethered Capture > Start Tethered Capture. Check Import photos from a tethered camera to learn how to change the tethered capture settings.

Adobe further reports that the updated tether capture tool will support the following Fujifilm cameras: X-T1, X-T2, X-T3, X-T4, X-T5, X-T30, X-H1, X-H2, X-H2S, X-S10, X-Pro2, X-Pro3, and GFX cameras.

Adobe has also added support for new Canon cameras, including the EOS R1, EOS R5 Mark II, and EOS R50 V. You can find out more about these recent updates on Adobe’s website here.
