Cinema 4D is getting a power-up thanks to a new partnership between Maxon and Tencent Cloud, which is set to integrate the new Tencent Cloud HY 3D Global 3D AI engine into Cinema 4D with integrations that will add AI-powered capabilities to artists' 3D and UV modeling workflows.
“At Maxon, our mission has always been to empower artists. This partnership is about giving creators additional tools to move faster when they choose to, especially in early-stage ideation and prototyping, said Maxon CEO David McGavran. "The artist remains in complete control of the final result. AI can assist with iteration and experimentation, but authorship and creative direction stay firmly in the hands of the creative.”
The goal is for AI to be a “creative accelerator” that can help artists jump-start their work and give them a better starting point for further creative exploration. Once assets are generated, they’ll be fully customizable in Cinema 4D and compatible with Maxon’s broader ecosystem, including ZBrush, Redshift, and Red Giant tools.
An Optional Power Upgrade
The companies are assuring Cinema 4D users that any new workflow features will be optional. The company states that any artists who prefer traditional modeling workflows can continue working exactly as they do today.
“Artists care deeply about authorship and originality—and so do we. Our approach is focused on responsible integration of AI capabilities into our tools. We are not building an autonomous system that creates finished art. We are applying technology that accelerates certain steps in a broader creative process that remains artist-led," said Philip Losch, Chief Technology and AI Officer at Maxon.
The overall goal, though, is to continue bringing new AI-powered tools and features to help creators working under tight timelines or simply open to exploring multiple visual directions.
HY 3D for Cinema 4D Availability
With the partnership just announced, the companies have shared that the HY 3D integration will take some time, with the goal of making its new features fully available in Cinema 4D sometime later this year.
