Godox's C100 is a Novel Light Meter and Mini Camera With a Transparent Display

Easily the most unique camera release of the year.

Godox could have just made a light meter. And if all the new Godox C100 did is meter light and display recommended exposure settings through the its transparent display, it would still be pretty cool.

But Godox went a step further and asked, “What if this light meter was also a futuristic mini rangefinder camera?” And that’s just what they created. It’s easily one of the most interesting cameras of 2026.

A Window, Not a Screen

The C100’s design is striking in the most gadgety way possible. The camera is roughly the size of a pack of playing cards. Occupying most of that real estate is its transparent display.

Look through the that display and you're not looking at a digital feed of the scene like you’d see on the back of a regular digital camera. You're looking at the scene itself, through a piece of glass with roughly 50% light transmittance. Godox calls it a transparent viewfinder and the C100 displays exposure data, frame lines, and battery level all overlaid atop the scene like a heads-up display. It's a clever middle ground between an old-school rangefinder and a modern info overlay.

The design also makes it quite natural for using the device as both a light meter and a camera. There are dedicated switch positions for photo, video, light meter, and powering the C100 off.

Godox made it easy to offload images to your phone through USB-C.

Specs, Pricing, and Availability

Just don’t expect the C100 to take incredible photos. This fits very much into the “toy camera” category and the resulting photos and videos look like something out of an early smartphone. Though Godox doesn’t list any official information about the C100’s sensor or resolution, here are some specs based on those that have spent time with the camera and posted about their experience online:

  • 2MP sensor
  • Fixed f/2.4 aperture
  • Shutter speed 1/30000-1/30
  • 24mm equivalent lens
  • Shoots photos and records videos at 1920 x 1080 resolution

WIth these types of specs, the C100 would be great for those who are interested in the metering capability and see the camera as a bonus or for those looking for a distraction-free, pocketable camera with a certain 2010-era vibe to the photos and videos. (Including a flash might have made the C100 a bit more exciting, but we digress.)

The C100 supports up to 128GB of storage via a microSD card slot and you can connect the device to your phone to offload and view photos and videos you’ve taken with it.

As far as light metering capabilities go, Godox says the C100 is a center-weighted light meter, reading brightness from the central 25% of the frame. Set your ISO anywhere from 100 to 3200, and it'll recommend aperture and shutter speed across a range of f/1.4–f/32 and 1/4000–30 seconds.
