In many ways, Adobe has been ahead of the AI curve for quite some time now, as Firefly—the company’s multipurpose AI model—has been a part of several different Adobe Creative Cloud apps for several years.

Yet, as we’ve seen with the recent explosion of AI models bringing about new generative and workflow tools and features, Adobe is kicking its Firefly model up a notch as well. Adobe recently announced a significant expansion of Adobe Firefly, bringing image and video generation capabilities to smartphones.

If you’re looking to stay ahead of the AI curve yourself, let’s look at all of the AI-powered tools and features that are available in the Adobe Firefly app, which is available for both iOS and Android smartphones.

Adobe Firefly Mobile App

Set to expand on Adobe Firefly’s web app, this new mobile app version aims to serve creators’ ideation as a standalone experience and as a way to seamlessly sync with Adobe’s Creative Cloud applications to enable project continuity and streamline creative workflows from ideation to production.

One of the first major new features unlocked with this Adobe Firefly Mobile app is Firefly Boards, which is currently available in public beta on the web and aims to transform how creative teams ideate and collaborate on concepts.

With the recent addition of video to its AI-first mood-boarding surface, Firefly Boards enables creative professionals to collaboratively explore and iterate across media types with AI-powered video and image editing.

Adobe shares that its expanding ecosystem of generative AI models will now include models from Ideogram, Luma AI, Pika, and Runway, along with image and video models from OpenAI, Google, and Black Forest Labs, allowing users to continually explore the latest AI models and technology.

Text-to-Image and Text-to-Video

Along with several generative AI features, such as Generative Expand, Generative Remove, and Generative Fill, Adobe is further doubling down on text-to-image and text-to-video capabilities. The mobile app offers creators the ability to easily generate images and videos from anywhere using various types of prompts.

Adobe creators are also now able to explore concepts with Adobe’s Firefly family of generative AI models, OpenAI’s image generation, and Google’s Imagen 3 and 4, and Veo 2 and 3.

Content created in Firefly is automatically synced with their Creative Cloud account, making it easy to start a project on the mobile app and continue on the web or in desktop apps like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro.
