The Latest Updates to Adobe Firefly and Premiere Bring Even More AI Features and Workflows

While Adobe Premiere Pro still remains one of the top options for both professional video editors, its legacy—like the industry itself—is starting to shift. Challenged in the pro space by DaVinci Resolve and a small, but devout set of AVID users, Adobe is expanding its video editing tools and features to welcome in a new class of content creators and AI artists.
While AI will remain a hotly debated topic in the film and video space, Adobe is moving forward with many new features and workflows to assist those looking to add AI toolsets to their content creation.
Here are the latest updates to Adobe Premiere and what you should keep an eye on, including new AI tools and workflows.
Adobe Firefly Creative Studio
The big news from the most recent Adobe MAX event concerned the latest updates to Adobe Firefly—the company’s web app that hosts its family of generative AI models.
While there’s a lot to explore in Adobe Firefly these days, the most notable news for many will be the announcement that Adobe is partnering with several of the top AI companies to bring their generative models into the Firefly workflow.
This means Adobe Firefly users can now access the latest AI models from companies like Google, OpenAI, Luma AI, ElevenLabs, Topaz Labs, and more without leaving the Firefly app.
AI Video Features
Adobe has also announced that Firefly will now include a new video editor, which will be the de facto home for all AI video workflows. There will be some new AI-powered features in other apps like Premiere, but the bulk of the AI toolsets will now be directly in Firefly.
In the Adobe Firefly video editor, users can generate images and videos using AI models such as Firefly Video Model, Runway Aleph, Moonvalley Marey, or Veo3. Users will now be able to upload reference images and generate a unique transition between shots.
Adobe has also rolled out some new AI-powered tools for audio and sound editing, including the following features:
Generate Soundtrack (public beta): Need custom music for your video? Tell Firefly the mood and energy you’re going for and it’ll compose an original, studio-quality soundtrack tailored perfectly to your video — trimmed to your video’s length. Generate Soundtrack is powered by Adobe’s commercially safe Firefly Audio Model, which creates fully licensed, studio-quality instrumental tracks.
Generate Speech (public beta): Looking for a clear, engaging voice-over to narrate your video? Upload your script and the new Generate Speech tool in Firefly will generate crystal-clear, lifelike voiceovers in multiple languages and fine-tune emotion, pacing, and emphasis for natural, expressive delivery.
Enhance Speech: You’ve recorded your voiceover, but — as always — there’s annoying background noise. The Enhance Speech tool, launched earlier this year, will eliminate the distractions and make it sound like you recorded in a professional studio.
Generate Sound Effects: Generate custom sound effects — or use your voice to prompt the sound effect and make sure the timing is just right with Generate Sound Effects, launched earlier this year.
