We all could use a little pause from time to time. If you’re a filmmaker, photographer, or hybrid content creator of any sort, it can be easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of your career.
But let’s all do ourselves a favor and pause for a moment to try to remember, appreciate, and understand why we’re all doing what we do. This beautifully shot micro documentary, released by Nikon in support of the new ZR camera, is a nice break and a rejuvenating look into the work of a great wildlife photographer.
It’s also a nice showcase of the Nikon ZR and what it’s capable of as a hybrid content camera, helping create nice breaks and moments.
Nikon ZR: Pause
Released on Nikon Australia’s YouTube page, this short documentary film highlights the work of wildlife photographer Charles Davis as he moves quietly through the Australian bush, stalking wild dingoes in pursuit of a single, fleeting moment.
By day, in his studio, master printer Warren Macris works with the same intensity, meticulously translating each photograph into its final form. The film juxtaposes the two and explores the razor-thin line between a good photograph and a great one.
It’s a nice reminder for all of us to stop for a moment, look, and wait in our own projects and careers, too.
Shot on a Nikon ZR
The micro-doc was captured entirely on the Nikon ZR, of course, and it’s a nice example of what this very moderately priced cinema camera is capable of. The child of RED Digital Cinema’s color science and Nikon’s imaging, the ZR is proving to be a popular option for documentarians and other videographers seeking high-end cinema support with hybrid sensibilities.
