Released alongside its slightly more powerful brother, the Profoto B20 OCF Flash Head is about as reliable, robust, and durable as ever designed. And yet, despite its ruggedness, some are calling the new Profoto B20 OCF Flash Head one of the classiest flash heads ever created.
Let’s take a look at the Profoto B20 OCF Flash Head and explore what this compact off-camera flash has to offer for your photography shoots and needs, and why it could be a classy and reliable option for you.
The Profoto B20 OCF Flash Head
As mentioned above, the new B20 OCF Flash Head has been introduced by Profoto alongside its brother, the 500W B30. Focusing on the B20 model, though, this is a compact flash head with exceptional performance capabilities and a nice mix of brightness options.
What’s unique about the B20 really has to do with its quick 0.01 to 1.2-second recycling time range, which syncs with a speedy shutter speed of 1/38,100 of a second in freeze mode for uninterrupted shooting.
Designed for photographers who need full creative control, the 250W B20 version features an 11-stop power range and a nice 40W bi-color modeling lamp, making it easy to set up and capture shots with precision and professionalism.
Three Flash Modes and Quick Duration
Alongside its durability and ease of use, the Profoto B20 should be quite capable for all types of photo projects thanks to its three flash modes, which include Boost, Eco, and Freeze options. Freeze can be used to illuminate fast-paced scenes with its built-in AirX connectivity and Profoto remote (which is available separately).
Shooting on location, photographers can rely on the B20 monolight to instantly freeze action for precise captures with each flash, with a recycling time 13% faster than the previous Profoto B10X model.
The B20 even works well with videography, as the strobe's bi-color LED delivers up to 50% more output than previous Profoto strobe models, making it an improved continuous light source.
Price, Specs, and Availability
Overall, the Profoto B20 (alongside the B30) is a great option for all types of hybrid content creators looking for greater flexibility in capturing a wider range of content.
