Premiere Pro’s latest updates will speed workflows up quite a bit.

As AI continues to speed up workflows and power up video editing tools and features, Adobe appears dead set on keeping Premiere Pro on the cutting edge of these new technologies.
And while AI might never truly—and hopefully—ever replace the instincts and intuitions of human editors with our unique experience-based skills and decisions, these latest features being added to Premiere Pro will certainly speed workflows up quite a bit.
Here’s what you need to know about the latest AI-powered tools and features in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Adobe Premiere Pro Latest Update
Released as a part of an April 2025 patch, update 25.2 for Adobe Premiere Pro promises to add more AI-powered tools and features. Several of these improvements are for features that already exist in Premiere Pro—like the Firefly-powered Generative Extend.
However, some other new tools, like AI-powered media intelligence and an all-new search panel, should further enhance the Premiere Pro experience for video editors of all skill levels.
Adobe is also adding a new Captions feature that can automatically translate your content into over 27 languages and some additional top workflow improvements like dynamic waveforms, colored sequence labels, and more.
AI-Powered Improvements
The biggest news might be the improvements to Generative Extend in Premiere Pro. This Firefly-powered feature can add a few extra frames to your clips to help editors achieve a perfectly timed edit.
With Generative Extend, Premiere Pro users will be able to seamlessly add extra 4K frames so you have enough media to cover transitions, hold on an emotional reaction for an extra beat, or add in missing ambient sounds and/or room tone.
Generative Extend can also work in the background while you edit clips that can be marked with Content Credentials so viewers know where AI was used.
More Performance Updates
Along with Generative Extend, Adobe is also adding new media intelligence and a search panel that’s better at using AI to find relevant clips based on normal language requests. Adobe has also unveiled the following updates for faster and better performance overall, including:
Dynamic waveforms that grow and shrink as you make volume adjustments give you a visual representation of your audio level.
Sequence label colors that help you stay organized by adding color to sequence tabs.
Completely rewritten support for H.264 in MP4 and MOV provides up to a 4x increase in performance on Apple silicon computers and a 2x increase in performance on Windows.
Hardware-accelerated Canon Cinema RAW Light on Apple silicon computers, so playback on the timeline is up to 4x faster and export is up to 9x faster.
Faster audio conform and peak file generation will get you started faster and keep you working smoothly.
