Other World Computing Expands its Mercury Line of External Storage Solutions, Drops Prices on Selected Models and Adds New Software Bundle

Other World Computing (OWC) today added several new models to its popular Mercury line of external storage solutions, while also dropping prices on several selected Mercury models and adding a new cross-platform back-up and restore software package to all Mercury line purchases.
Additions to OWC’s Mercury product line are the following new models:
- A 250 Gigabyte (GB) 5200RPM Mercury Elite Pro FireWire 800/400 + USB 2.0/1.1 Combo storage solution with 2 Megabytes (MB) of RAM priced at $349.99;
- A 250GB 5200RPM Mercury Elite Pro FireWire 400 + USB 2.0/1.1 Combo storage solution with 2MB of RAM priced at $299.99;
- A Mercury Pro 52X32X52 CD-R/RW External FireWire + USB 2.0/1.1 Combo solution, featuring Lite-On SMART-BURN technology, priced at $119.99; and
- A Mercury Pro DVD-R/RW + CD-R/RW FireWire + USB 2.0/1.1 Combo solution, featuring the Pioneer DVR-A06 4X DVD burner, priced at $289.99.
In a separate release earlier today, OWC announced that it has begun bundling Dantz® Development Corporation’s Retrospect® backup and restore software with all external OWC Mercury FireWire storage drives. Dantz is a leader in backup and restore software for small and midsize businesses.
In addition, OWC has also dropped prices on 12 different models within its Mercury line of external storage solutions, with prices lowered by up to $70.00 per model.
Each Mercury external hard drive includes free Macintosh and PC software applications, appropriate FireWire and USB cables and are backed by a two-year OWC warranty. Each Mercury external DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW storage solution includes blank DVD and/or CD media, free Macintosh and PC software applications, appropriate FireWire and USB cables and are backed by a one-year OWC warranty.
