While only set to be available outside of the United States for now, the new Mini 5 Pro looks to be every bit of DJI’s new flagship mini drone option for hobbyists and pro aerial cinematographers and photographers.

Featuring the world’s first 1-inch sensor in a mini camera drone, the DJI Mini 5 Pro is set to launch with a robust set of features, including an Intelligent Battery providing up to 36 minutes of flight time and upgraded ActiveTrack 360°.

It will also be tiny enough to fit inside the palm of your hand and lightweight enough to easily take with you for your travel adventures or for-hire drone work. If you’ve been on the fence about jumping into the drone game, and live outside of the US, this might be a great time to invest.

What to Know About the DJI Mini 5 Pro

Powered by its aforementioned 1-inch CMOS sensor, the DJI Mini 5 Pro will offer some pretty sophisticated flight specs and features, including nightscape omnidirectional obstacle sensing and a built-in gimbal with 225° of flexible rotation.

The Mini 5 Pro will also feature a new 48mm Med-Tele mode with a higher digital zoom resolution than any of the previous Mini models. This new lens should help make subjects stand out with greater texture and add depth.

On top of that, DJI has also added new portrait optimization technology that enhances the brightness, contrast, and skin tones of portraits to make them look naturally radiant with more vivid expressions

Cinematic Aerial Video

As for video specs, the DJI Mini 5 Pro will be able to record 4K/60fps HDR video with up to 14 stops of dynamic range, making it highly capable of capturing high-contrast scenes, such as detailed views of cloud textures and other elements during sunrise and sunset.

Plus, for those wanting to slow things down with even greater creative flexibility in post-production, the Mini 5 Pro also supports slow-motion video recording at 4K/120fps.

As for color modes, the Mini 5 Pro can record 10-bit video using H.265 encoding, which should enable it to deliver refined color performance with the maximum ISO set to 12800. Additionally, in D-Log M and HLG color modes, the maximum ISO is increased to 3200, which should further enable greater brightness and more details in urban night scenes.

Price and Availability

Sadly, as mentioned throughout, the DJI Mini 5 Pro drone is not slated to be officially available in the United States. If you’re a drone enthusiast outside of the US, though, the Mini 5 Pro could be a nice upgrade or new investment thanks to its compact design and superior flight and video specs.

The DJI Mini 5 Pro will reportedly retail for €799 (Europe), £689 (UK), and $1,059 CAD (Canada), and you can find out more details on ordering on DJI’s website here.
